Frequently asked questions

What is it that you do?
We conduct surveys online for the music industry.

Why is the video is not playing?
It can be for multiple reasons:
1. The operating system. We cannot list all of the different operating systems and versions out there but in general if you can install the latest version of Windows Media Player (7 for Win 98+ and 6.4 for Win 95) on your computer there's a good chance that you'll be able to see the videos. Songpeople doesn't support Macintosh, yet.
2. The plugins. You absolutely need the latest version of Window Media Player. For different reasons too boring to explain here, this is the only streaming format we offer on Songpeople. You can download it by clicking here. Once you have downloaded the install file you must install it, follow the instruction and restart your computer. Then you come back to www.songpeople.com and participate in your first survey. You also need Macromedia Flash Player for some areas of the site. However, the Flash player is not needed to perform the surveys.
3. The connection. A video should not take more than a minute or two (extreme situation) to start streaming. If it takes more you know you've got a problem. Write to support@songpeople.com with the details of your computer and your songpeople ID. We'll do everything we can to help you.
4. Other. If you describe your problem and your computer set up in as much detail as you can we might find out what's wrong. For example: If you get an error message (which most probably mean a problem on our side) try copying it and pasting it in an email to support@songpeople.com. This can help greatly. Always remember that the problem can also be with third party software. You can check on their respective help sites or in their help file.

Why can I only access certain surveys?
In order to participate in a music rating session you must firstly be invited. This is how we can target groups. Record companies, TV stations or radio stations ask us to ask you what do you think about certain songs or videos. If we invite you to do a survey it is because you are part of a specific group (age, working status, favourites, etc…) who our client is interested in knowing the opinion.

I was invited but when I went to www.songpeople.com to login I was told there's no surveys available for me at the moment. Why?
Surveys are open for a limited period of time. Usually, the closing date is included in the email invitation sent to you.

Please Note If you have a pop-up blocker installed you may not be able to gain access to the survey. You are advised to disable the pop-up blocker in your browser before logging in.
